Professor Kalu Mosto Onuoha (FAS) is the President Nigerian Academy of Science. He studied at the Lorànd Eötvös University in Budapest, Hungary (1971-78) where he majored in Applied Geophysics, obtaining the PhD degree (summa cum laude) in 1978.

He served as Post-Doctoral Research Fellow at the Geophysical Institute of the Technical University, Clausthal-Zellerfeld, Germany (1979-80) and returned to Nigeria to join the services of the University of Nigeria, Nsukka (UNN) as Lecturer in the Department of Geology in 1980.

Rising through the ranks, he was promoted to the position of a full Professor of Geology in 1988 and was later appointed in 1991 as the pioneer Mobil/NNPC Professor of Petroleum Geology at the Mobil Producing Nigeria’s Chair of Geology, at the University of Calabar (1991-92).
He was inducted into the prestigious rank of Professor Emeritus of the University of Nigeria, Nsukka in December 2017.
