Prize Presentation Ceremony

The Prize

The Prize, a recognition for outstanding acts of leadership, is presented anually, after a careful, meticulous and rigorous process that begins with the Technical Team of Experts (TTE) setting out the selection criteria and guidelines, then the Assessment and Recommendation Panel (ARP), after which the Governing Board gives the final approval.

Winner of the Prize

The winner of the Prize for each season will be presented with:

  • A Medal of Honour
  • A Plaque of Excellence
  • A Monetary sum.

He/She will make a statement at the presentation ceremony of the succeeding season, sharing his experience to mark the end of his/her season and handing it over to his/her successor. The Protégé Leadership Programme (PLP) is part of the activities undertaken by each Prize Winner during the season.

Selection Process

The prize is open to all Nigerians, irrespective of gender, religion, age, ethnicity, and field of endeavour. The process of selection and emergence of a winner shall be consistently credible and transparent. The selection process for each season is as follows:

The nomination process for each season begins with a formal announcement to that effect by the Governing Board.

Commence nationwide call for entries and nominations of candidates, based on criteria and guidelines approved by the Board.

The Board constitutes and engages an Assessment and Recommendation Panel (ARP) to review and shortlist the entries based on the approved criteria and guidelines.

The three finalists are invited to the Prize Presentation Ceremony where the Winner will be announced, and the Prize presented.

A Technical Team of Experts (TTE) is constituted and engaged by the Board to set appropriate criteria and guidelines for measuring and assessing nominees/entries.

Secretariat collates and presents entries and nominations.

The assessment and Recommendation Panel (ARP) presents the best three entries/nominees to the Governing Board for consideration.

Governing Board selects the Prize Winner for the season from the three finalists submitted by the ARP; announces the winner and presents the Prize at the Prize Presentation Ceremony.

Criteria For Assessment of Nominees And Selection of Winners of The Nigerian Prize for Leadership (NPL)

The Technical Team of Experts (TTE) was constituted and engaged by the Board to set out appropriate national criteria and guidelines for measurement and assessment of nominees and selection of winners of Nigerian Prize for Leadership. The outcome of their over three months research, brainstorming and dialogue is the eight (8) Leadership Barometers and over thirty Attributes, for measuring and assessing leadership in Nigeria.
